Finding Work Nearby

Nothing is more frustrating than not being able to find work in the city where you live. Unfortunately, in this economy the story is becoming all too common. Those living in Guelph On know that there is a pretty strong economy in the area, thanks to the diverse array of businesses to be found. However, even here, some people may have no luck in finding work.

The good news is that living in a Southwestern Ontario city such as Guelph means that even if you can't find a job locally, you do have a shot at finding work nearby. We live in the most densely populated regions in Canada, and where there are lots of people, there are lots of opportunities. If you haven't had success landing a job here, you might want to try these other locations nearby.

Hamilton

To the south lies the city of Hamilton. The main actor in the economic stage for this city of 500,000 is manufacturing. Here, you can find jobs in steel factories and plants. If your interests lie elsewhere, then it is good to know that the population base of Hamilton means there are plenty of side prospects to be found. You may be interested in working at a marina or putting together a Riverdale blog for a Toronto based company; you can find this type of work in the Hamilton area.

Brantford

East of Hamilton lies the city of Brantford, about a 45 minute drive from the city of Guelph (it takes less time if you take the GO Train!). Brantford sits at an important intersection both for Ontario cities and for Canada and the United States and their business transactions. There are jobs in everything from corporate headquarters to landscaping. Brantford may be smaller than Guelph in population, but its presence on the international map is growing!

Kitchener Waterloo

The Kitchener Waterloo region is the closest large market to Guelph of the large Ontario cities. To the east of Guelph, the two cities are a bit large combined than the population of Guelph, and again that means more business opportunities. You'll find a large blue collar work force there, but again telecommunications means that you might be able to find work booking equipment and table rentals, Oakville bound and even further afield.

Farther points

Of course, when you think southern Ontario, you think Toronto. The city is not out of the question for those looking for work while living in the Guelph area. It's only about an hour away by car, and again the transit system offers faster trips to and from the city. If you are looking for work as a wedding videographer, Toronto offers the largest market, and therefore the most opportunities.

In your search for work, start with areas such as Hamilton, Kitchener, Waterloo, and others close to Guelph. If you still have no luck landing employment with a real estate firm or catering company, Toronto is not too far away.
